Dictation 4: Coral – Answers

Coral has existed for over 500 million years. Ancient reefs formed long before dinosaurs appeared, evolving into today’s vibrant ecosystems. Though coral looks like a plant, it’s actually a colony of tiny animals called polyps. Coral reefs support 25% of marine life, protect coastlines from erosion, and provide food and income for millions of people. However, pollution, warming seas, and overfishing threaten their survival. Preserving coral is vital for biodiversity, climate resilience, and the health of our oceans.
