take up – start a new hobby or interest
take someone in – deceive someone (it is mostly used in the passive – be taken in)
take something out (of) – remove from a body, a place (I took my bike out of the garage)
take something back – return something to a shop because it doesn’t fit or it doesn’t work, etc
take someone out – go somewhere with someone you invited (usually to a restaurant or a theatre or a cinema)
take to someone – start to like someone
NB. These phrasal verbs have other meanings too. Don’t try to learn all the meanings at once.
